Experience a very real, authentic NZ farm.  There are no microphones, stages or arenas – this is unapologetically a true blue working farm.

Imagine yourself cuddling up to and feeding lambs, stroking a shorn sheep, feeling the freshly shorn wool and walking alongside working dogs. Be a part of our farming life for a hour or two to learn hands-on.

Be part of a tradition and share our passion for farming life.

Beauly Farm is just outside the historic village of Woodbury, 6kms from picturesque Geraldine.  It is the farm where we have continued the farming tradition to provide our family with the same upbringing and life experiences we were privileged to.

We love to host groups and provide morning or afternoon teas (or lunch tours to larger groups by arrangement) and share our passion for the land, in our beautiful corner of Aoteoroa. Accordingly our tours operate twice a day at 9.30am or 1.30pm.

See how the our dogs work the sheep.

Located just 750m from the quaint village of Woodbury, Geraldine Farm Tours is an experience where you are immersed in life on a working farm.

After a safety briefing the farm experience starts with the two most important tools on a farm – working dogs. A demonstration is provided by both a heading (eye) dog (no barking) and a huntaway (barking). Our guests then get to see how we work sheep in the yards and up the race.In the spring and early summer months there are also always lambs to bottle feed, and the guests all get a turn to feed the lambs (if they wish) and touch and pat them (to be honest they get very little choice as the lambs love to see people eager to feed them!).

Learn how the professionals handle the sheep and wool

Luckily for us we have a blade and machine shearing professional who shears two sheep, but using very different techniques. Both are available to NZ farmers for shearing. You will learn about different sheep breeds, different wool types and prices and how we “class” the wool once it is shorn and the scouring (cleaning) process.

Be served refreshments and wander freely around the homestead grounds.

Finally, you are invited to wander around the extensive English style grounds surrounding the homestead.

Morning or afternoon tea refreshments are served either on the deck of the homestead, or outside in the garden, weather depending. Our guests are served traditional (but still a bit special!) fare of custard and raspberry scones and tea and coffee.
